Reader Mail - Things That Make You Go Hmmm

We got this email from a reader last week. Citizen journalism at its finest. We edited the names to protect the innocent.
I live in the general vicinity of (Quasi). After I read your story about (Ken Luneau) maybe working for (Ro Jo) I thought it was odd that (Quasi) doesn't have a (Mini Mayor) sign in his yard. There are other (Mini Mayor) signs on (Quasi's) street, but none in (Quasi's) yard. Things that make you go Hmmmm.
Hmmm, indeed. Why Quasi don't want to advertise for his meal ticket? Unless......

Reader Mail:

At least this reader gets it:

Read your blog everyday.  Thank you for the post, "Fear of a Black Mayor" where you listed the status quo:
We might find that our levees are actually crap. CHECK. Mini Mayor worked at the levee board when these things happened. His father works there now. Mini Mayor's wife works for the Rapides Foundation and it was Rapides Regional who cut one of the levees.
We could be forced to close our downtown hotels. CHECK. Mini Mayor chose a group of nobodies for the downtown deal. His legal team is not telling us about the challenges from Capital One. To top it off, the HIP guys are looking for looking funding! If the local funding existed, locals would have done the deal.
We could be forced to pay high utility bills. CHECK. Mini Mayor negotiated the deal with Cleco. Why don't we have our rebates yet?
We might never get any drainage projects completed in this town.  CHECK.  Mini Mayor wants to use our funds to fix the problems that his levee board created.
It might take 4 years to complete any road extensions.  CHECK.  Sugarhouse road?  Probably never.  Versailles?  It was started before Mini Mayor took office.  Still waiting!
There's nothing going on in this town.  How much worse could it actually get?  Mini Mayor has proven he can't get anything done and he tries to turn everyone's attention away by blaming others for his failures.  So I would say that Mini Mayor not only can't solve problems, he creates and profits from them!

Well said.  Anyone else with comments, send them to jacquesbarack@gmail.com

Reader Mail: We've Seen This Movie Before

Our mail has been a little slow now that school's out, but we did get this worthy email:

I am a life long resident of Cenla.  I remember the bad old days of Mayor John K. Snyder.  I remember the catfish in the city swimming pool.  I think what we have now is much worse.  Mayor Roy has been a huge disappointment and the city council is no better.  These idiots fight over the same candy bar while the rest of the kitchen (i.e. city) burns down.  How much money do we have to waste on downtown Alexandria?  Has the though occurred that no one wants to go there?  Would it too much to expect our elected officials to know the important and popular places in Alexandria and work toward improving those places?  I want to feel safe at Wal-Mart and the mall.  I want to feel safe at Albertson's or Kroger's.  I want to feel safe at Compton Park.  I want to feel safe on Jackson Street Extension and it would be nice to have a beautification project or two.
About the global downtown hotels deal, we've seen this movie before except that every remake gets less glamorous and the players less attractive.  How many times has the city tried to find someone to buy it from Bob Dean?  How many times have they failed?  Now Mayor Roy has found these three HIP characters that don't have a pot to piss in (excuse my French)!  How could these HIP guys get this far with no money?  We can wait until November but I'm sure the answer will be no dice.  This has all been a hoax and the joke is on us.  I'm not laughing and I will NOT be voting for Mayor Roy.  Too bad my councilman is not up this time.

Your Mail - Thoughts on Jacques Narcissism and Nihilism

We've gotten some mail about who is Jacques Barack.  This reader hit the nail on the head.  This is pretty deep thinking, people.  To-To ain't gonna publish anything this impressive:
What riles people like Jacques and the clowns at the TT is that Jacques Barack still chooses to remain anonymous. Egoists not only get jealous at others' success, but they also cannot fathom why anyone with a chance to take the stage and receive the adulation of the masses does not do so. It confuses them and attacks their world view, because for them it is all about "being somebody". To see that not everyone wants what they think is the ultimate goal of any living being forces them to question their own validity and life choices.
Behind every publicity seeking buffoon is a weak and insecure little man (or woman) in need of constant reinforcement. I give you Jacques M. Roy as a textbook example.  He is a narcissist who can't turn away from the mirror.  Of course, the ultimate fate of narcissism is nihilism.  They work towards nothing and nothing is accomplished.
Jacques Barack et al are "somebodies" without being somebodies. They won't be approached for autographs on the street, cannot get the best table in a restaurant, and are not sought out to appear in the halls of power and enlighten others of their kind (at least not publicly).
You are the enemy because you invalidate them and all they hold dear.
Keep up the great work!

Oh, rest assured that we gonna keep it up until our mission is accomplished.  We're glad that we're getting more input from our readers and we encourage more.   Jacques Barack is a forum for positive change.  Jacques Barack is a movement to improve Alexandria.  Jacques Barack is you.  The more involved you are, the harder for old Alexandria to keep their death grip on this town.  Please send your input to jacquesbarack@gmail.com.

Reader Mail - Ponder This

Jacques Barack has a lot of readers and we enjoy our reader mail.  This was a particularly well written piece:

I enjoy reading Jacques Barack and the lighter side of politics. However, the time is drawing near where voters will have to make informed desicions on whom to vote for and what direction our city will move. I would ask the question is this current administration worthy of a second term? I would hope voters and your readers would ask the same questions. It is simple, just honestly answer the following questions in regards to this current administration.
 1. Is the City of Alexandria better finacially today, than when this administration came into office?
 2. Has the City Crime Rate gotten better or worse since this administration came inot office?
 3. Despite spending tens of thousands of dollars of UDAG funds and millions in SPARC has the city improved economically?
 4. Since coming into office, to the present, how would you classify the relationship with this Administration and the City Council ?
 5. Do you feel there has been an increase or decrease in city services to the citizens of Alexandria?
 6. Although you the citizens paid the overcharge from Cleco, do you feel that you received or will receive a fair and equitable rebate from the current settlement from the City of Alexandria?
 7. Do you feel this Administration has been accessable to the average Alexandria resident?
 8. Do you feel this Administration has been completey transparent in dealing with its citizens?
 9. Think hard! What would you say this Administrations most significant accomplishment since it has been in office 3 plus years?
 10.  Do you feel like the people in City Hall represent you or the majority of residents in Alexandria?

Jacques Barack couldn't have said it better.

Reader Mail

From the Jacques Barack reader mailbag:

Jacques Roy’s great distinction as a public figure is his ability to sound smart even though most of what he said he said was wrong or a blatant lie.

Thank you to that loyal reader.  If you have any valuable questions, comments or tips, remember to email jacquesbarack@gmail.com
