Jacques Roy Knows Levees

Beware the internet.  It holds old truths.  You can run but you can't hide!  Hey, Jacques, you gonna tell all your mayor buddies about your resume?

And what's this all about?  We thought the Roy administration had nothing to do with the levee certification.  My, my, how long with the TT ignore this and all we did was google?

ORDINANCE NO. 269-2007, introducted and laid over for publication of notice and no objection having been filed, brought up for final adoption on motion of Mr. Fowler and seconded by Mr. Marshall, adopted by council on September 25, 2007, authorizing Jacques Roy to enter into an intergovernmental agreement  with Red River, Atchafayalaya, Bayou Boeuf Levee Board and Rapides Parish Police Jury to obtain Bayou Rapides and Bayou Phillips levee certifications and other matters with respect thereto.

They Will Be Meeting When The Flood Comes

More chasing of tails today.  Your elected representatives will be having a fine lunch with all the fixins in Baton Rouge today and nothing will be done to recertifiy the levees.

Roy said it is important to help people understand what has happened and why.

"My desire is to widen the coalition of public knowledge-holders and decision-makers regarding levee certification," Roy said. "We hope to learn what others are doing in preparation for FEMA attempts at remapping and to share with others what we have learned."

"As president of Louisiana Conference of Mayors, I as well as my staff are preparing for pressure needed to avert economic disaster," Roy said.

What is a public knowledge-holder?  Didn't Jacques also waste a lot of our time telling us that the levees weren't decertified?  What could he possibly share with others since he has learned nothing?  If there were any public knowledge-holders on the subject, Jacques would argue with them and drive to a radio station to try to convince us that he is the expert and that they need to shut the hell up.  If you were going to build a coalition, the first thing you would have to do is vote Mini Mayor off the island.

And Now The Cover Up

Why didn't you take it to trial, Jacques?  Why did you fight like hell to make a deal?  Now Judge Dread announces this:

The court retained jurisdiction to resolve disputes about the protective order for confidential information exchanged in an audit of the city's transactions with Cleco, throughout court-monitored mediation process, and during discovery in preparation for trial. The protective order keeps all material deemed confidential away from public scrutiny.

Our only hope for the truth was the trial.  What's wrong with public scrutiny?  It hurts the powerful in this town.  Clueless Quasimodo assures us he is on the case:

City Utilities Director Michael Marcotte said the new sales contract contains safeguards that, he said, will help to prevent the circumstances that led to the city's decision to sue Cleco, its primary power provider.

Folks, with Jacques and Quasimodo in charge, we're as safe as a 10 year old at a day care run by R. Kelly.

Loop de Loop

Alexandria's big dogs are having fun playing architect and chasing their tails again.  We should be electing bird dogs and all we get are circus barkers.  The inflated egos in this article is fularious:

"One day we're going to wake up and there's going to be more and more development in Central Louisiana, because people are going to get tired of running from the storms," said Elton Pody, president of the Central Louisiana Chamber of Commerce.

Sounds like Jacques and the Chamber guy are Art Vandelay wannabes.  They've accomplished as much as George Costanza.  Development in Central Louisiana?  We doubt seriously that we'll ever have that problem as we'll be 6 feet deep before then.  Probably from a levee breach.  How's those downtown hotels coming Jacques?  Who's gonna insure them?  You need more proof that our "leaders" don't know how to spend their time or your money wisely?

They hope the project will relieve traffic pressure and spur residential and commercial development.

This area has a lot of problems, but traffic ain't one of them.  We could start the list with dumb leaders like Jacques and the Chamber guy, levees, economic growth, crime, etc.  This is the apocalypse.

Only Von Jennings, a former mayoral assistant to Roy who has been endorsed by the Revitalizing Our Community Political-Action Committee run by local attorney Bridgett Brown, has declared her intentions to seek the office.

Yes, indeed.  There's only one and it's Von Jennings.

Alexandria Diverts Attention on Utility Bills

When things get hot, somebody's gotta fry.  Jacques couldn't work out a good deal with Cleco, so now he's going to divert attention from his own failure by attacking the Shepherd Center.  We are not surprised.  The councilmen, except for Mr. Larvadain, have joined Jacques in the attack.  Wasn't Mr. Larvadain the only councilman with enough integrity to vote no on the Cleco cave in?  If the Shepherd Center used 8 percent of the funds to offset their administrative costs it is still probably less than what Jacques and Crutchfield have been ripping us off.

Still Just Von

Today is the first day of March and we still have only one candidate for mayor: Von Jennings.  In other news, our sources report that Jacques is down at city hall trying to simultaneously remove Cleco's foot and the TT's nose from his crack.  Early reports say that the TT's nose is wedged further up crack than the foot.
